First “hackathon” to support mobility and the environment

Forty operators of change worked for 36 hours on the InnovAcción TeleVía “hackathon” to find solutions for mobility and environmental improvement in Mexico, as part of a collaborative project based on Design Thinking methodology and tools.

Creatives, experts, amateurs and business developers worked over two days on the hackathon in order to provide solutions for more efficient and cleaner mobility in the metropolitan area of Mexico’s capital city. This megacity has an official car park of more than 12 million vehicles- 35% of the country’s total fleet- and hosts approximately 25 million inhabitants. There is consequently an urgent need to discover solutions for improved mobility.

InnovAcción presented three huge challenges to the 40 creative agents gathered into eight work teams: how to take advantage of TeleVía client and non-client information; how to ensure an effective communication of valuable information related to transport and the environment; and how to optimize infrastructure and technology applied to highways in order to improve their surroundings.

The hackathon generated eight viable projects, which were assessed by an independent jury consisting of executives belonging to Waze, Disruptivo TV, Ecosistema de Apps Móviles de Google, Gigigo de México, Axend, Catapulta, Leopark, Parkiller, OHL México and TeleVía, as well as the Opinno consultancy firm, one of TeleVía’s strategic allies in launching this initiative.
