"The Human Rights Policy at Aleatica displays our dedication to upholding human rights as well as the incorporation of management procedures to prevent and, when necessary, lessen adverse effects on human rights."
In 2022 we conducted an institutional Diagnosis on Human Rights in the Autopista Urbana Norte and Viaducto Bicentenario Business Units, featuring case studies.
Based on the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, it was conducted by the Universidad de Monterrey’s (UDEM) Institute for Human Rights and Business (Instituto de Derechos Humanos y Empresas, IDHE), Global Compact Mexico’s major partner in this domain.
The study had two objectives:
1. To evaluate the impact of Aleatica’s operations on the upholding of human rights in Viaducto Bicentenario and Autopista Urbana Norte.
2. To assess the maturity level of their management processes in order to facilitate a corporate human rights due diligence procedure at the operational level.
Based on the analysis and using a comprehensive approach, we identified areas for improvement in the following categories:
Employees
Communities
Supliers
Supply chain
Other stakeholders with whom we interact
Impact intensity, management maturity, and attribution were among the criteria used to assess impacts on human rights.
A total of 31 impact hypotheses connected to eight globally acknowledged human rights were identified. The majority of the adverse impacts found are potential in nature (20 out of 31), meaning that they have not yet manifested but are likely to do so according to the evidence and context of the company’s operations.
The following eight rights were found as having a high prevalence of actual or potential impacts:
- Personal integrity.
- Freedom and personal safety.
- Equality and non-discrimination.
- Privacy.
- The right to marry and start a family.
- The right to enjoy equitable and satisfactory working conditions.
- Union rights.
- Children’s rights.
The following points are being worked on based on the outcomes of the human rights impact assessment and human rights due diligence, and taking into account the procedures in place in these two Business Units:
