As a preventive action to mitigate the effects caused by, the increase in the flow of coastal rivers at this time of the year, Autopista del Norte carried out works to clean channels in 24 bridges, run-off channels and pontoons located in the northern region of the country.
The works began in December last year and culminated this month, including manual clearing, cleaning with machinery and improvement of the formation of the channel of the following infrastructures located within Northern Toll Road:
It should be noted that most of the channels presented problems of vegetation growth, sediment accumulation and solid waste. These actions were carried out after an inspection carried out by Autopista del Norte on all the bridges and drainage works located within its road concession, which goes from Pativilca to Trujillo.
It should be noted that in March of 2017 the north coast of Peru suffered the ravages of the climatic phenomenon known as the Coastal Niño. On that occasion, Autopista del Norte became a strategic ally for the restitution of vehicular traffic on the Pan-American Highway, through the authorization of alternative routes and aid for the most affected populations (see video).
